Here at Grangers, we believe that nothing should stop you from getting outdoors and especially not the weather. We also know that sometimes the idea of having to wait to get back outdoors while you clean and reproof your gear can seem equally as frustrating.
Is there anything more British than a good chinwag about the weather? As a nation, we are obsessed with it, allowing it to slip into almost every conversation we have. Even when friends and family members go abroad, the first thing we usually ask them upon return is, ‘how was the weather?’. It’s the perfect small talk topic for standing around the copier at work, waiting for the bus or bumping into an old acquaintance in Tesco.
The purpose of our waterproof clothing is to keep us warm, dry and comfortable when we’re outdoors. We expect our waterproofs to protect us but it’s also important that we care for them in return. Whilst reproofing is vital to maintain the performance of our gear, people often forget the most important step and that is cleaning – the technical way!
Reaching the Top: 70 Years of Everest
2023 marks a significant anniversary for Grangers and mankind’s ongoing journey to explore and conquer the great outdoors. 70 years ago, two men – Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay – were the first to ascend Mount Everest successfully, besting the world’s highest mountain.
On 16th June, the world is being called to action to help prevent plastic waste and reduce the amount we use daily. Organised by the charity City To Sea, their main aim is to stop plastic waste from clogging our oceans and encourage us to ditch single-use plastic in favour of reusable, refillable containers, like water bottles and coffee cups. We all know that plastic pollution is a massive problem for our planet and advocating for this slight change in our lives can have a significant global impact.
Here at Grangers, we love hiking and we know a lot of our lovely customers love it too. From exploring new places right on your doorstep to venturing out further afield, it’s something that can appeal to everyone. Many of us are on an uphill journey to better ourselves and when regular running doesn’t quite hit the spot, rugged trails might just be the answer. Its appeal is clear: many are attracted to trail running to be surrounded by beautiful views and lose themselves amongst nature.
The leaves have been falling for a while now and the temperatures are really starting to dip, signalling the end of the autumn. We’ll soon be preparing for autumn to hand the seasonal baton over to winter, gearing up for chilly winds that bite at our cheeks, incessant, soggy downpours and maybe even a freak blizzard or two.
